Adamawa hopeful of surviving relegation battle

Aliyu Abubakar Jada, Permanent Secretary, Adamawa State Ministry of Youths and Sport, has assured that struggling Nigeria Professional Football League side, Adamawa United, will continue to fight until the end of the season in their quest to avoid relegation to the country's second tier league.

Adamawa, who have only two wins this season, are bottom of the NPFL league table after the first stanza of the league with just 12 points from 19 matches.

Leadership crisis off the pitch has affected the on-field performances of the Yola-based club, but Abubakar assured that with the new players brought in during the break, they will survive the relegation dogfight.

He said, "We are going to see a lot of improvements from the team when the second stanza of the season resumes because of the new players that we have.

"We brought in some new players during the break and I can say that Adamawa United will continue to fight until the end of the season to avoid relegation."
